HOPATCONG, NJ — A piece of Hopatcong's story is getting sealed away for the next 25 years, and local groups are being invited to help tell it.
As part of its USA 250 celebration, the borough will hold a time capsule sealing ceremony Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. at Borough Hall.
Hopatcong groups, committees and organizations are invited to contribute a proclamation or official message, a letter to future residents or a group photo.
Items must be submitted by Oct. 20 and approved before being placed in the capsule.
The ceremony will directly follow the Halloween Festival at Modick Park, according to the Hopatcong Recreation Department.
Items may be delivered to Recreation Superintendent Max Vasile. They can also be dropped off at Borough Hall to the attention of Mayor Marie Galate.
The capsule is scheduled to be reopened in 2051.
