Factory Worker Dies After Becoming Trapped In Machinery: Police

A 40-year-old employee suffered serious injuries at Nicolock Paving Stones in Sparta Township, authorities said.

SPARTA, NJ — A 40-year-old worker died Saturday after becoming trapped inside mechanical equipment at a paving stone manufacturing plant in Sussex County, authorities said.

Sparta Township police officers responded to Nicolock Paving Stones in the 400 block of Houses Corner Road following a report of a medical emergency involving an employee, according to NJ.com. The man suffered serious injuries while trapped in the equipment, but coworkers managed to free him before emergency responders arrived.

Officers provided emergency assistance to the worker, who experienced a medical emergency while awaiting transportation to a hospital, according to News 12 New Jersey. The worker was transported to Newton Medical Center, where he later died.

The man's identity has not been released, and additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
