HOPATCONG, NJ — Residents should prepare for freezing temperatures as a Freeze Watch takes effect late Saturday night and continues through Sunday morning.
According to an alert issued Friday afternoon by the Borough of Hopatcong, temperatures could drop into the upper 20s to low 30s across Sussex County.
The watch remains in effect until 9 a.m. Sunday.
Officials warned that frost and freezing conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, while potentially damaging unprotected outdoor plumbing.
"Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold," the alert advised.
The watch also covers Carbon and Monroe counties in Pennsylvania.
