HOPEWELL, NJ - The Hopewell Valley will observe Memorial Day weekend with parades in Hopewell Borough and Pennington Borough, along with cemetery and monument services conducted by American Legion Post 339 across multiple sites.
Hopewell Borough
Hopewell Borough's Memorial Day Parade takes place Sunday, May 24, at 1 p.m. The procession begins at Taylor Terrace, marches east on Broad Street to Princeton Avenue, and concludes with a closing ceremony at Hopewell Elementary School.
Earlier Sunday morning, from 9 to 11 a.m., American Legion Post 339 will hold services at Highland Cemetery, Stoutsburg Cemetery, Hunt Family Cemetery, St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, the Hopewell Fire Department, Hopewell Old School Baptist Church, and Hopewell Elementary School.
Pennington Borough
Pennington Borough's Memorial Day Parade is Monday, May 25, at 11 a.m., along South Main Street, ending at Toll Gate Grammar School.
Prior to the parade, from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Post 339 will conduct services at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Pennington Presbyterian Church Cemetery, the Masons Lodge monument, Pennington African Cemetery, and the Old Sun Bank monument.
Additional Weekend Observances
On Saturday, May 23, the Hopewell Valley Veterans Association will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Woolsey Park, 221 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, Titusville. Also Saturday, from 9 to 11 a.m., Post 339 will conduct services at Harbourton Cemetery and at Titusville Methodist Church, Titusville Presbyterian Church, and Pennington Methodist Church. All events are open to the public.
