HOPEWELL-PENNINGTON, NJ — The final days of summer vacation are winding down for Hopewell Valley students, who will return to classrooms next Tuesday for the start of the 2026-27 school year.
Before the backpacks come out, teachers and staff members will report Wednesday and Thursday for two professional development days, according to the district calendar.
Students will then settle in at Hopewell Valley Central High School, Timberlane Middle School, Bear Tavern Elementary School, Hopewell Elementary School, Stony Brook Elementary School and Toll Gate Grammar School. The district serves families across Hopewell Borough, Hopewell Township and Pennington.
The opening week will be a short one. Students attend next Tuesday through Thursday, but schools and offices will close Friday for the Labor Day holiday. They will remain closed the following Monday for Labor Day, giving families a four-day weekend almost immediately after classes begin.
Families can find the calendar and individual school updates on the district's website as the first bell approaches. They may also want to double-check transportation arrangements, schedules and opening-day instructions before students leave home.
