HOPEWELL, NJ — Halloween celebrations in Hopewell Valley are getting a little more theatrical this year, with a lineup of family-friendly performances, magic and live music planned throughout October.

The Hopewell Valley Arts Council is expanding its seasonal offerings at Hopewell Valley Stage, located at 5 South Greenwood Avenue in Hopewell.

The theater's October lineup also includes The Spider & The Stars, a candlelit album release performance by composer and vocalist Allison Spann and producer and musician Scott Li on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. The contemporary classical album blends jazz and pop influences to tell the story of a spider spinning her web between the stars, as Patch previously reported.

"The Amazing Pumpkin Carve is a beloved fall tradition," said Carol Lipson, executive director of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, in a news release. "We're thrilled to bring it back this October 8-11 at Needle Creek Farm Brewery."

The Amazing Pumpkin Carve runs through Sunday, featuring giant pumpkins carved by local artists, food trucks and entertainment.

But the Halloween festivities won't end there.

On Sunday, Oct. 25, the theater will host the Sing Along With Sarah Family Halloween Concert at 2 p.m., following the Hopewell Borough Halloween Parade.

The interactive performance, led by children's singer and songwriter Sarah Johnson, will feature spooky songs and opportunities for children to sing, dance and play along. The concert is recommended for ages 2 and older, although everyone is welcome.

"We're really excited about our upcoming family Halloween concert with Sing Along With Sarah," said Maeli Goren-Wilson, theater manager.

On Friday, Oct. 30, professional magician Tommy White will present Hoodwinked: A Magical History of Deception at 7:30 p.m. The performance combines sleight of hand with stories about the history of modern magic. It is recommended for audiences ages 7 and older.

The Halloween festivities will continue Saturday, Oct. 31, with two performances offering something for both children and music lovers.

Aesop Romp!, an interactive musical storytelling show for children, begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The Halloween-themed performance introduces children to live theater through a collection of fables. Recommended for ages 4 to 12, the show also welcomes younger children accompanied by an adult. All children must remain with a parent or guardian throughout the performance. Coffee and treats will be available for purchase, and families can visit the gazebo park afterward.

Later that evening, Stevie's Blue Lamp will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. for a Halloween concert celebrating the music of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. Led by singer Jessica Star, the band will perform familiar classics featuring soaring vocals, rich harmonies and rock-and-roll energy.

"Costumes are encouraged at the Halloween events," Goren-Wilson said. "Let's have fun with it!"
