HOPEWELL, NJ — Hopewell-area police are participating in a new countywide effort to reduce fatal crashes and serious injuries through traffic enforcement and driver education.
Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey announced the ACED Task Force Initiative, which stands for Awareness & Community Education for Drivers, on Monday.
As Patch previously reported, every municipal police department in Mercer County is joining the initiative, alongside the Mercer County Sheriff's Office and New Jersey State Police.
The first enforcement phase begins Thursday, Oct. 22, along Routes 29 and 129 in Trenton.
The year-round campaign will target speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and aggressive driving.
According to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, officers will use crash data and traffic trends to identify high-risk locations.
The initiative will include coordinated patrols, DUI checkpoints and educational outreach.
