"We heard feedback from our audiences that they're eager for more live theater," said theater manager Maeli Goren-Wilson in a Nov. 3 press release provided to Patch.

"As a proud theater kid myself, I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to feature bold new voices in drama at the Stage," Goren-Wilson added.

The expansion begins with Femme Fringe, running Friday, Nov. 20, through Sunday, Nov. 22.

The weekend is a collaboration between Hopewell Valley Stage and Taproot Creatives, featuring new works by women and nonbinary writers.

The lineup includes staged readings of Trad by Sarah Cuneo and Cemetery Play by Megan Medley, along with a short film festival, playwriting workshop and an afternoon showcase called Cinnamon Roles.

"Audiences will get a behind-the-scenes look at our creative process during Femme Fringe," said Medley, Taproot Creatives' co-founder.

The theatrical programming continues with Socks on the Wall, the venue's first in-house production, running Friday, Dec. 18, through Sunday, Dec. 20.

Written by Hopewell playwright Brad Goren-Wilson, the comedic holiday production follows a young man traveling across the country to visit his grandmother for Christmas in 2020.

Maeli Goren-Wilson will direct the production, featuring Noreen Farley, Daniel Enrique and Madison "Mads" Middleton.

Other upcoming events include the Small Bites music festival, Yes, Chef! improv comedy and additional concerts and film screenings.

Tickets and performance details are available through the Hopewell Valley Stage website. Visitors can also explore the Femme Fringe lineup and Socks on the Wall performance information.
