Hopewell-Pennington Road Gas Work Planned: What Drivers Should Know

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ — Drivers who use Hopewell-Pennington Road should plan for a lane closure when gas utility work begins Monday, Oct. 5.

Hopewell Township said Elizabethtown Gas expects to work on Route 654 between Crusher Road and the Hopewell Borough line through the end of the year. The project will bring a single-lane closure in the work area.

Commercial trucks will be prohibited and directed north on Route 31, then east on Route 518 into Hopewell Borough, according to the township’s notice.

Work may not take place directly on your street, but Elizabethtown Gas said nearby construction could affect traffic and limit street parking. Residents may also hear loud noise and see heavy equipment.

The township urged drivers to allow extra travel time, use caution and follow posted traffic signs. The notice did not list daily work hours.
