Pennington Library Holds Virtual Read Alouds, Arts/Crafts For Children

The Pennington Library will be featuring a series of virtual activities for children in light of school closings.

Draw Every Day with JJK: Children’s book author/illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka will stream drawing lessons for all ages live to YouTube on weekdays at 2 pm ET. Krosoczka is known for Punk Farm, Hey Kiddo, the Lunch Lady series, and the Jedi Academy series.

Grace Lin: Newbery Honor winning children’s book author and illustrator (Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and A Big Mooncake for Little Star) posts read alouds and art lessons to her YouTube on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems!: Author and Illustrator of the Elephant and Piggie series, is doing daily doodles at 1 p.m. ET through the Kennedy Center, where he is artist-in-residence.

Kate Messner’s Resources for Learning Collection: Author Kate Messner has collected a list of “learning-at-home” resources from authors and illustrators that includes read alouds, writing and drawing lessons, and research links, “all free & copyright friendly!” she tweeted.

The Red Umbrella Princeton: The Red Umbrella promotes children’s literacy by providing free storytelling, free books and free arts and crafts to children and their families. The Red Umbrella is posting online story times and craft lessons featuring local community members to Facebook daily.

Stimola Literary Studio: Starting March 23, Stimola Literary Studio, representing kid lit and YA authors and illustrators, will host live streamed read alouds, craft activities, and drawing demonstrations between 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. EST with Matt Tavares, Ellen Hagan, Shannon Stocker, and many others.
