3 Men Sought After Shots Fired At Howell Man, Pitbulls: Police

Breaking: Police said anonymous tips in connection with the case are welcomed.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township police are seeking information in connection with a shooting early Saturday morning on Lanes Mill Road.

Police Chief Andrew J. Kudrick Jr. said police responded to a home on Lanes Mill Road at 3:14 a.m. for a report of shots fired. Arriving officers searched for possible suspects in the area but none were located, he said.

A 38-year-old man told police he heard gunshots from behind his home, "saw sparks," then saw two black males run from behind the house to a silver Honda Civic, driven by a third black male, that was waiting for them in the street, Kudrick said.

The resident chased the two men on foot to the vehicle, he told police, and as he got to the car, a round was fired in his direction.

"Evidence at the scene supports this claim," Kudrick said. The rounds fired at the rear of his residence were into a structure housing pitbull dogs. None of the dogs were hit, he said.
