Baxter's Fishing Derby Coming To Echo Lake In Howell
The free children's fishing derby promises prizes and fun, and Howell residents are encouraged to come out.

HOWELL, NJ — The annual Baxter's Fishing Derby is set to return to Echo Lake in Howell on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The event is free and open to children ages 5 through 14. It is hosted by Howell Township's Lake Restoration and Wildlife Management Committee and is sponsored by The Baxter Family, with support from Stop N Shop, PAALS and Rob's Best Friend Fund.
The derby is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. at Alfred C. Sauer Park at the lake, on Maxim Southard Road.

More than 550 fish, including rainbow trout, bluegills and bass, are being stocked at the lake for participants to catch.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing rod and supplies. There will be limited bait available at the derby. The fish stocking, bait and trophies are being provided by the Lake Restoration & Wildlife Management Committee and The Baxter Family .

In case of rain, the derby will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13.
