Quitting smoking, vaping, or any nicotine use isn’t easy. It takes time and starts with a plan. You don’t have to stop smoking in one day…just start with day one!
Maybe November 19th, the Great American Smokeout date this year, would be a good day to try going smoke, vape, or nicotine-free—even for just one day!
Here are 3 steps the American Cancer Society recommends to get started with quitting smoking, vaping, or oral nicotine use:
1.Set your quit date and share it with family and friends so you have positive support system in place; you don't have to go it alone!
2.Make a plan on how to manage your day without smoking, such as activities to shift your focus and keep you occupied when cravings hit;
3.Discuss your quitting plan with your doctor, who can help with counseling, medications, and other support strategies.
