Calling All Umpires To Howell South Little League

There will be a clinic for umpires, open to those age 12 and up, on Aug. 31 for the Fall 2022 season.

HOWELL, NJ — Positions for Fall 2022 season umpires for the Howell South Little League are open to all interested, ages 12 and up.

But there is a mandatory clinic to attend for all prospective umpires who have yet to be certified, the league said in a Facebook post.

The clinic will take place Aug. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Howell South Little League Complex, 2740 Lakewood-Allenwood Road, Howell. Email howellsouthll@gmail.com for more information.

Any adult who is interested in umpiring must adhere to both Little League and Municipal background/fingerprint requirements.

The rates of payment are:

  • Peewee: $30 each for two-person crew; $50 single umpire
  • Minors: $35 each for two-person crew; $50 single umpire
  • Majors: $40 each for two-person crew; $55 single umpire

In another league matter, League President Rory Durnin said there are no new developments in tracking down those responsible for vandalism and theft at the league building last week. The league has offered a $300 reward for information about the incident and the police are also investigating.

The complex is leased from Howell Township and is in Deerwood Park, a town park.
