Flooding Closes Roads In Howell: Police

Heavy rain overnight caused flooding in some areas; police urge caution.

HOWELL, NJ — Heavy rain overnight has caused flooding in some areas Sunday morning, and Howell Township police said several roads were closed as a result.

Initially Fairfield Road was closed between Bennett Road and Route 33, police said.

Later in the day as rain continued to pour on saturated ground, police announced other road closures:

Howell Road between Bennett Road and Vanderveer Road.
Colts Neck Road between Cranberry Road and the Farmingdale border (for flooding and a pole replacement)
Route 33 between Fairfield Road and Yellowbrook Road
Route 33/34 interchange at Caruso Excavation.

Additionally Wyckoff Road was reduced to one lane.

Some residents received a flash flood alert early Sunday morning, according to the Howell Happenings NJ Facebook page. That warning is expected to remain in effect until 12:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

"Please use caution in all flooded areas," police said in a tweet.
