Fall Out Shelters and Civil Defense

Local high school history teacher Jeffrey Brown returns to the Jackson Branch library discuss the cold war.  The talk will be on fallout shelters and preparations made for nuclear war in the United States will be discussed.  One particular area that will be covered is the “shelter craze” of the early 1960’s. Original artifacts, plus a PowerPoint presentation, will be featured.  In addition, the Twilight Zone episode “The Shelter” will be viewed by the audience.  This program will be held at the Jackson Branch of the Ocean County Library on Monday, February 8, 2016 @ 7:00pm.
