Farmingdale Man Accused Of Robbing Convenience Store At Gunpoint: Prosecutor

The armed robbery occurred in late July; the man was arrested Aug. 11, according to court documents.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Farmingdale man has been arrested after he robbed a convenience store clerk at gunpoint in July, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Leamon D. Washington, 43, whose last known address was in Farmingdale, has been charged with burglary, armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of weapon in connection with the July 25 robbery of the Country Farms at Main Street and Fourth Avenue in Asbury Park, according to the criminal complaint released by the prosecutor's office.

The complaint accuses Washington of threatening the female clerk with a handgun during the robbery, which happened about 10:15 a.m. on July 25, according to a report in the Asbury Park Sun. He demanded money, and after receiving an undetermined amount of cash, fled the store, the report said.

Washington is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of $200,000 bail, according to jail records.
