Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Route 9 In Howell: Police
Breaking: It is the second fatality in just over a week on Route 9; no details were available on Sunday's victim.

HOWELL, NJ — Route 9 northbound is closed from the Lakewood border to Alexander Avenue in Howell after a pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday evening, Howell police said.
The left lane southbound on Route 9 in the area was closed as well as the investigation continued late Sunday.
Police posted the notice about the closure shortly after 8 p.m. and announced it was a fatality about 8:30 p.m. The postings on the department's Facebook page did not give any additional details.

The fatality is the second on Route 9 in Howell in just over a week. On Dec. 2, Juan Santiago Lopez, 53, of Freehold, was struck and killed as he crossed the highway near New Friendship Road. Juanean Perez, 21, of Jackson Township, has been charged with driving while intoxicated in the crash, police said.
Police ask motorists to plan an alternate route.
