Firefighter Injured Battling Howell House Fire In Frigid Conditions: Police
Breaking: Quick work by the firefighters prevented the house from being totally destroyed, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — A firefighter was injured Tuesday night as firefighters battled frigid temperatures to put out a structure fire in a home, Howell police said.
Full details on the fire were not immediately available, but in a post on Facebook, Howell police said quick work by firefighters from the Adelphia Fire Company suppressed the fire and saved the home from complete destruction.
The residents made it out of the home safely, the post said. Details on the injury to the firefighter were not available but the post said he was taken to the hospital. "He will be OK," the post said.

Adelphia Fire Company, along with Squankum, Freewood Acres, Ramtown and Southard responded, along with mutual aid from the Farmingdale, Jackson Township and Naval Weapons Station Earle fire companies, the post said. Howell First Aid, Farmingdale First Aid Squad and Howell Police EMS along with the Howell Office of Emergency Management also provided support.
Temperatures dipped into the 20s Tuesday night, with a wind chill that made it feel like 10 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

"Remember, these are volunteers who are spending this bitter cold night helping others," the police department noted. "This is the reason for multiple companies being involved. They need to rotate personnel on a frequent basis."
"Thanks to all the emergency personnel for their dedication, commitment and courage," the post said.
