Police Find Missing Man In Howell

The search included a New Jersey State Police helicopter, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — (Updated) Howell Township police said they were able to find a man who had gone missing Thursday.

The man, whom police had said was distraught, was found safe and is receiving treatment, Howell police said in an update on Facebook.

The search for him that ensued after he had made comments indicating he might take his life led to a heavy police presence in the Ramtown section and the assistance of a New Jersey State Police helicopter, police said in a post on Facebook Thursday evening.

"We are not inviting the public to join the search," police said.

The man was despondent and had made comments indicating he may take his life. Howell and Sheriff’s Office K-9s along with the New Jersey State Police are assisting.

"The helicopter will be using FLIR and may be low and hovering," police said.

"Do not try to join the search, as that would complicate matters," police said. "However if you come across him in your travels please call 9-1-1."
