Herbertsville Rd, Newtons Corner Rd Construction Begins Tuesday

HOWELL, NJ - Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 16, Herbertsville Road, the Allenwood Road and Newtons Corner Road intersection will undergo construction.

Monmouth County is realigning Allenwood Road to create a four-way intersection and is installing a traffic signal. Motorists should expect detours and traffic pattern shifts, according to a municipal alert sent out by Howell Township.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Last year, Howell Township received $250,000 in state funding aimed at road improvements on Newtons Corner Road, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The funding comes as part of a $161.25 million allocation in municipal aid grants to 543 New Jersey cities and towns for advancing road, bridge, safety, and quality-of-life improvements.

More than 50 municipalities in Monmouth County were awarded a grand total of $12,891,992.
