High School Chorus Set to Perform at Library
Howell High School's popular a capella groups, Rebelation and the Rebelettes, will be performing at the Howell Public Library on Thursday evening at 7 p.m.

With the school year coming to an end, many organizations are planning big events to conclude the 2010-11 year. Two popular groups at Howell High School, the Rebelettes and Rebelation, will be ending the school year in style with a performance at the Howell Township Public Library on Thursday evening.
Both Rebelation and The Rebelettes are a capella groups. These groups sing a wide range of songs, and during some songs, members use their voices to create a beat while others sing along to that rhythm.
Many high schools have become quite fond of a capella music in recent years, due to the influx of singing competitions like “American Idol,” and “The Voice,” as well as the show “Glee.”

The group, led by Howell High School vocal music director Joe Cantaffa, follows in the footsteps of another singing group at the school, Rebel Yell, which performed at the library over the winter holidays, playing a medley of Christmas and Hanukkah tunes. That concert was widely attended and many in the crowd bobbed their heads and tapped their feet to the various songs played at the show.
This spring concert will feature a bit more contemporary music styling. Recently, the group Rebelation gave a performance at Howell High School for a tribute to men and women in the armed services, as well as members of the local police. During this show, Rebelation performed such songs as “Raise Your Glass,” by Pink, and “King of Anything,” by Sara Bareilles.

The Rebelettes are an all-girl a capella group that will also be performing at the library on Thursday evening, also led by Mr. Cantaffa. The group performs various songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. During last week’s concert at the high school, the group performed such hits as “Buttercup,” and “Dancing in the Street.”
This event is set for Thursday evening from 7 to 7:45 p.m. For more information on this concert, please contact the library at 732-938-2300, or visit the library online at www.monmouthcountylib.org. The Howell Township Public Library is located at 318 Old Tavern Road in Howell.
