Howell Commons Crash Leaves Motorcyclist Dead: Prosecutor

A Saturday evening crash between a motorcycle and a 2018 Honda Clarity left one driver dead, authorities said Monday.

HOWELL, NJ - A Saturday evening collision on Route 9 in Howell left one driver dead, authorities said Monday.

On Nov. 28 at approximately 8:23 p.m., the Howell Township Police Department responded to a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a 2018 Honda Clarity on the northwest access road in the Howell Commons Shopping Center, Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Christopher Swendeman told Patch Monday morning.

The driver of the Honda, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pulling out from an exit behind Panera Bread when the car collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle rider, later identified as Jonathan T. Giorgi, 20, of Howell, was ejected and sustained “serious injuries,” Swendeman said.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m. The driver of the Honda Clarity was uninjured in the collision, Swendeman said.

An investigation by the Monmouth County Serious Crash Analysis Response Team (SCART) and the Howell Police Department is ongoing.
