Howell Man Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting Family Members

FREEHOLD, NJ — A Howell Township man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a juvenile family member, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced Wednesday.

Didier Perez Duarte, 33, of Howell, was convicted by a jury of second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child following a three-week trial before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Richard W. English.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in September by English and faces up to 10 years in prison, with a requirement to serve 85 percent of his sentence pursuant to the No Early Release Act before he is eligible for parole. Perez Duarte will also be required to register as a sex offender and be on parole supervision for life.

Perez Duarte sexually assaulted a juvenile family member during the summer of 2018 and the assaults came to light when the victim told a family member, sparking the investigation between the Howell Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
