Howell PD's Corporal Michael Pavlick Announces Retirement
Cpl. Pavlick was "instrumental in reducing the opioid epidemic that greatly affected this community," according to the department.

HOWELL, NJ – One “outstanding” member of the Howell Township Police Department officially announced his retirement last week, according to the department’s social media page. Cpl. Michael Pavlick, who has “regularly educated students with open dialogue reducing stigma and improving police relations,” will soon be retiring from his position in Howell Township.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Howell Police Department, although it is sad for us, we are happy for Mike and his family as he begins a new chapter in life,” the police department wrote in a social media post last week. “He has absolutely earned a place in the history of this police department.”
Cpl. Pavlick began his law enforcement career with the Howell Township Police Department in 1995 at the patrol division until 2002, when he became a K-9 unit handler for four-legged partner Nero.

In 2014, due to his vast knowledge and experience handling street-level crime, Cpl. Pavlick was assigned to the newly-formed Crime Suppression Unit. At this stage of his career, Cpl. Pavlick was “instrumental in reducing the opioid epidemic that greatly affected this community,” according to the department.
“Throughout his years in patrol, Cpl. Pavlick became known not only to his colleagues but those within the community as a highly respected Police Officer," the department wrote.

In 2017, Cpl. Pavlick was assigned as the full-time School Resource Officer at Howell High School. He facilitated a connection with faculty and students and was responsible for the safety and security of the building as well as serving as a positive representation of law enforcement. He regularly educated students with open dialogue reducing stigma and improving police relations, according to the department.
Cpl. Pavlick also served as a member of the Municipal Drug and Alcohol Alliance, establishing “a relationship with everyone within this community, especially the younger generation.”
“Mike was an outstanding Police Officer, and exceeded the high standards long associated with being a Howell Township Police Officer,” wrote Howell Township Police Chief Andrew Kudrick.
“Mike’s impact on the department and the community can never be replaced. That is the true definition of a legend. It was an honor working alongside Mike for the past 25 years.”
