Howell Police Receive New Ambulance
The rig has room for extra crew members and safety gear as well as patient treatment equipment.

Howell, NJ -- Howell Township residents will see a new police ambulance on the township's roads in the coming weeks, Police Chief Andrew Kudrick announced.
The new ambulance, a 2015 Ford 450 with four-wheel drive, replaces a 2009 Ford Van that has 150,000 miles, the department said.
The rig, 19-8-59, has an extended cab that provides room to store tactical gear, including body armor to protect crew members "in the event they are faced with an unexpected threat," police said.

The extended cab also allows the transportation of additional crew members. The rig has lighting all the way around it to light up the area while crew members are at a scene, for added safety.
Kudrick said the rig has to be stocked and personnel trained on its use, as well as receive certification from the state, but he expects it will be in service by the first week of July.
