Howell Police Seek IDs Of Couple In Cell Phone Theft

Breaking: Police say the pair took a phone that another customer accidentally left behind at the Walmart in Howell.

HOWELL, NJ — The Howell Township Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects in a theft that occurred at Walmart in Howell in late October.

Detective Sgt. Christian Antunez said the theft occurred Oct. 28 at about 8:20 p.m. The victim put his Samsung Galaxy S7 cell phone down at the register while making a purchase at the self-checkout. After making his purchase he walked away, forgetting his cell phone at the register, Antunez said. The man returned within minutes but the phone was gone, he said.

Surveillance footage from the store captured a white female accompanied by two young children picking up
the phone and handing it off to a black male, who can be seen putting the phone in his pocket while continuing to check out, Antunez said.
