Howell Police Seek Witnesses To Crash That Killed Howell Woman

The woman died Saturday after she was ejected from her car during the crash, police said.

Howell, NJ -- Howell Township police are seeking witnesses to a Saturday afternoon crash that killed a a Howell Township woman.

Patricia Madzin, 60, died Saturday afternoon when her car was hit as she tried to make a left turn out of a driveway on Fairfield Road, authorities said on Facebook.

Madzin was ejected from her car when it was hit by a vehicle driven by Carmelo Lamarca, 24, of Howell, authorities said. The crash happened about 4:15 p.m., authorities said.

Madzin was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Lamarca was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and later released, authorities said.

Howell Township Patrolman Peter Hochhauser and Sgt. Joseph B. Markulic of the traffic safety division are investigating, police said. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Howell Police at 732-938-4111.

Additional responding units included the Howell Twp. Police EMS, MONOC Paramedics, Squankum FD and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
