Howell Public Schools Start Year With New App

First day of school is set for September 9.

The Howell Public Schools will open a month from Monday and work is well underway to get the buildings ready for the 2013-14 school year.

One step in that process is the development of an app that parents can download for their mobile phones. Available for Apple and Android phones a free download brings school and district news, lunch menus, directories and more directly to the user’s phone. To get the app search Howell TPS in the store for your particular device.

With Labor Day coming early on September 2 the buildings will be open the next two days for staff only with the first day of school set for September 9. There is also an in-service day scheduled for September 17 which will be an early dismissal day for students.

The district calendar also calls for a short week in November with a staff day closing schools on Tuesday the 5th and schools closed on November 7-8. Thanksgiving break is set for November 28 through December 1 and winter break is scheduled for December 23 through January 1 with schools reopening on January 2. Spring vacation is set for April 14-21 and the tentative last day of school is penciled in for June 19.
