Howell Schools Earn Future Ready, Sustainable Jersey Honors

HOWELL, NJ — The Howell Township School District has received a pair of honors, Future Ready and Sustainable Jersey for Schools, in recognition of its efforts on both preparing students for future careers in the digital age and for efforts to sustainably use resources and conserve energy.

The district received the Silver District certification, one of only four districts across New Jersey to receive the honor.

Silver District certification means all of Howell's schools have not only developed programs that integrate technology into the classroom in ways that will help students succeed in college and careers in the digital world, they've also shared their strategies with other districts to help those districts prepare students, according to the Future Ready Schools website.

Howell's schools achieved bronze certification in 2017 as part of the first group of schools participating in the program. The schools all received silver certification in 2018.

"Over the last three years, schools and districts across New Jersey have been breaking down silos to collaborate with and support each other through the Future Ready Schools - New Jersey certification program," the organization said on its website. . As we continue to develop the coming Gold Tier district certification, we want to recognize those districts that have achieved Silver Tier certification in all of their schools and have proven themselves dedicated to sharing their success with, and supporting the Future Ready efforts of their peers statewide."

Howell Township Schools also have achieved bronze certification in the Sustainable Jersey For Schools program, which supports the efforts of schools to "go green, conserve resources and take steps to create a brighter future," the website says.

The district's schools were among 108 certified statewide, which included 98 who received bronze certification. Including the Howell schools, there were 25 Monmouth County schools certified.
