Howell Schools to Host Parent Academy
The Howell Township Public School District will be holding its annual Parent Academy on Jan. 29 at Middle School South
The Howell Township Public School District will once again be hosting its Annual Parent Academy under the direction of Dr. Laurie Bandlow, principal of Memorial Middle School. It will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Middle School South off Ramtown-Greenville Rd. in Howell.
The Parent Academy's mission is to enhance student success by strengthening the partnership between parents, community and educators of the Howell Township Public Schools. Research has indicated that students, whose families are involved in their education, typically receive higher grades and test scores, complete more homework, have better attendance, and exhibit a more positive attitude toward school.
Parents will be given the opportunity to attend workshops that will address their needs and concerns regarding the educational process, in addition to listen to a keynote speaker. Local restaurants and schools will be donating food and beverages, talented students will be providing entertainment and community organizations will be providing information to parents about educational resources. The Parent Academy is a trailblazing partnership that will connect the bridge between home and school and positively impact its students. An audio version of the 2010 Parent Academy workshops can be accessed on the Howell Township Schools' website.
