HOWELL, NJ — A Howell Township Boy Scout who is working on his Eagle Scout is seeking support as he works to construct a memorial garden to honor the township's K-9 officers.

Thomas Chan, a member of Boy Scout Troop 258 of Howell, has been working to organize and construct the memorial, named the Howell Police K-9 Memorial Garden.

He is seeking to raise $2,000 to assist with the project. The funds will go toward the purchase of a large engraved monument with the dogs' names, a life-sized concrete dog statue, and flowers or bushes to forever memorialize the dogs — Jett, Nero, and Blitz — who all served a full career and passed away due to old age. Jago, who was an active member of the unit for several years now is retired.
