Howell Toddler Scalded By Water, Flown To Burn Hospital: Police

Police said the 14-month-old knocked a pot of boiling water off the stove.

HOWELL, NJ — A 14-month-old child suffered severe burns Wednesday evening when the toddler knocked a pot of boiling water off the stove, Howell police said Thursday.

The child, who suffered burns to the face, chest, stomach and arm was flown to St. Barnabas Burn Center in Livingston by MONOC 1 helicopter, Howell Detective Sgt. Christian Antunez said.

Thie child's current condition was not available.

Both parents were home at the time and no foul play is suspected, he said. A 911 call was made about 5:15 p.m., and Howell police and the Howell Township Schools put out notifications about the medevac landing so residents would not be alarmed by the police presence.
