'Inattentive' Driver Hurt, Crash Shuts Road In Howell: Police

Maxim-Southard Road is expected to be closed for several hours as a result of the crash, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — An "inattentive driver" was injured Tuesday morning her car left the road, hit a utility pole and caught fire, Howell police said.

Police did not identify the driver beyond gender, saying she suffered a minor injury.

The crash took out the pole on Maxim-Southard Road and has forced police to close the road between Amanda Lane and Locust Road for "an extended period of time" while the utility company repairs what police said is extensive damage caused by the crash and the fire.
