Lady Rebels Tame Mustangs in Key Contest

Solid second half propels team to victory

Howell girl's lacrosse coach Christina Nunez said that after a streak of up and down games, the Lady Rebels needed a good win on Tuesday against Marlboro to get them back on track.

After the first half ended with the score tied at five, there was a chance that the game could have been another bumpy experience. But in the end, they got the last big push they needed to topple the Mustangs 16-8.

The leading scorer was Alexa Masino who notched five goals and has long since surpassed her total from last year. Tara Benedetti was right behind her with four goals, while Ryley High had a hat trick to go with high assists on the day.

Goalie Stephanie Lehner also had a big day for the Lady Rebels as she stopped 15 of the 22 shots she faced.

The coach said the win was an ecouraging step in the right direction for the team. "We finally came to play in the second half," she said. "We've been kind of off for the last week."
