Lakewood Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car On Route 9 South In Howell
The fatal accident occurred at 1:55 a.m. Thursday; police are seeking information from witnesses in a continuing investigation.
HOWELL, N.J.—A fatal motor vehicle accident in which a pedestrian from Lakewood was killed on Route 9 early Thursday morning is under investigation, police here say.
At about 1:55 a.m. Thursday, June 2, a 30-year-old male pedestrian from Lakewood was struck by a vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Deal resident, police say. He was walking south on Route 9 in Howell between Alexander Avenue and Ford Road when he was struck by the car.
Despite lifesaving measures by first responders, the pedestrian had a traumatic injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a report released Thursday.

The crash remains under investigation by the police department, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
The driver did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

No summonses have been issued at this time.
