UPDATE: Friday's Football Game Postponed
Game against Marlboro set for Saturday night, could be moved to Sunday

The football game between the Howell Rebels and their guests was moved from Friday night to at least Saturday night.
Howell Athletic Director Bill Bruno said the 6 p.m. Saturday kickoff is tentative depending on the weather leading up to the game. If the rain predicted for tomorrow falls on the field it could move the game to Sunday afternoon.
Two games into their young season, the Howell Rebel football squad has had to battle their way through games against both their opponents.

The two games resulted in a loss to Toms River North and a win over Freehold Township this weekend's game against Marlboro should provide another test for the local team. Coach Cory Davies said in looking at the Mustangs on tape and in person they have a lot in common with their fellow in district rivals from Freehold.
This may be the third game of the season for the Mustangs, but it is their first against a Shore Conference opponent. They started the year Sept. 10 with a 39-32 loss to JP Stevens before a 32-16 loss to St. Josephs of Metuchen last Saturday. Coach Davies said much like the Patriots, Marlboro likes to control the ball, helping them control the tempo of the game to put points on the board.

Coach Davies said his team learned a lot from their game against the a week ago and hope to use those lessons to better combat what Marlboro will likely bring when the teams square off this weekend. With the game against Freehold Township coming on the heels of a to Toms River North a week ago one area the team has focused on improving is the offensive line.
Leading up to tonight's game, Coach Davies said that part of the game has been a work in progress and has shown improvement every week. "We're trying to get better at it," he said. Even with senior quarterback facing a lot of pressure and taking some big hits, he has still thrown for an impressive 629 yards and seven touchdowns through the two games.
His favorite target so far has been Brandon Yaegel who has 12 receptions for 220 yards including a season long 72 yard attack. He has also thrown to Nick Craig 11 times for 122 yards and Pat Devine eight times for an impressive 105 yards. Keeping the game balanced, Davies has also connected with Tory Robinson seven times for 95 yards as the Rebels have leaned on their passing game to move the ball.
Taking on their second A North opponent and another rival from the Freehold Regional High School District, Coach Davies said his team is ready for their next challenge. "Our guys know that we want to win that football game," he said.
