Man Who Approached 2 Girls Sought In Howell: Police

Police say the man approached the girls and offered them "cookies."

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township police are investigating an incident where a man approached two girls at a Howell shopping center on Thursday.

Howell police were called to the Howell Commons shopping center after the two girls called 9-1-1 and reported a man approached them and offered them "cookies."

The girls described the man as a heavyset white male with a mustache; he was smoking a cigarette and driving a beat-up tan/off-white sedan, police said.

Police were at the shopping center quickly and stopped a car that was similar to the one described, but after investigating do not believe it was the one involved.

All parking lots and surrounding streets were checked but police did not find the suspect. Video from the area is currently being analyzed, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
