Monmouth County DWI Checkpoint Set For Wednesday

If you are planning some pre-Thanksgiving imbibing, make sure you have a designated driver or another way to get home.

HOWELL, NJ — If you are planning to start your Thanksgiving celebration on Wednesday night, take heed: The Monmouth County DWI Task Force will be conducting a checkpoint looking for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, authorities said.

The checkpoint will run from 11 p.m. Wednesday through 3 a.m. Thursday, on the northbound side of Route 9 in Howell, said Brielle Police Chief Michael W. Palmer, task force coordinator.

Task force members and officers from the Howell Police Department will pull vehicles from the northbound lanes of Route 9 into the Regal Plaza parking lot to check drivers' sobriety and to educate drivers on the dangers of driving while intoxicated, Palmer said.
