Monmouth County DWI Checkpoints This Weekend
There's a simple way to avoid an issue: If you're planning to drink, don't drive.

The Monmouth County DWI Task Force is continuing it weekly impaired driving checkpoints this weekend in Spring Lake and in Howell.
Brielle Police Chief Michael W. Palmer, the task force coordinator, said Friday's checkpoint will be in Spring Lake and will run from 9 p.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday.
Task force members and officers from the Spring Lake Police Department will pull vehicles from the southbound lanes of Ocean Avenue into the Brown Street parking lot to determine the drivers’ sobriety.

Officers at the checkpoint are trained to detect drivers who are under the influence of drugs as well as alcohol.
On Saturday, the task force will operate a checkpoint in Howell on Route 9 from 11 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday, Palmer said.

Task force members and officers from the Howell Police Department will pull vehicles from the northbound lanes into the Regal Plaza parking lot, he said.
