Four Boys Ice Cream Shop’s humble roots trace back to an ice cream truck, which opened in 1999. The truck was operated by husband-and-wife duo Peter and JoAnn Becker, named for their four boys Dan, Dave, Luke and Jake. A flagship location was opened in 2004 in Englishtown.

"[Farmingdale] used to have an ice cream store years ago, but they closed. For a long time, we wanted to get into Farmingdale," JoAnn told Patch. "We’re a small-town ice cream shop, and Farmingdale has that same small-town home feeling.”
The Beckers tout three other locations throughout Central Jersey in Jamesburg, Jackson and Milltown.
