Photo contest deadline; shooting range on Howell agenda: Monday Manual

The Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center is calling for entries in the Manasquan Reservoir 2023 Photography Exhibit.

You have to think seasonally and submit entries throughout the year for the the exhibit, which will take place from Feb. 1 through 28.
This year's theme is "Treasures of Nature," and there are three seasons left to capture in photos.

Here are the basic rules of the competition:
- Divisions: Youth or Adult.
- Categories: General Photography or Wildlife Photography. Each photographer may enter one photo for each category per season.
- Entry Fee: $5 per photo, while youth submissions are free to enter.
- Seasonal Entry Deadlines that remain are: Spring, June 26; Summer, Sept. 25; Fall, Dec. 4.

The Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, 331 Georgia Tavern Road in Howell, is dedicated to providing experiences of learning and discovery related to wetlands ecology and wildlife and habitat protection. Designed to connect visitors with their natural world, the Environmental Center highlights the importance of water. One exhibit features fish found in the reservoir outside. Another traces the journey of a raindrop as it travels through the watershed to the Manasquan River and, eventually, reaches the ocean.
Howell to tweak shooting range fees, rules
HOWELL, N.J.— The Township Council is expected to hold a hearing at its next meeting, May 24, to adopt an ordinance amending the use of the shooting range behind police headquarters by outside agencies.
Howell would revise the fee structure and establish additional rules relating to the safe and efficient use of the range, according to the council agenda. The ordinance was introduced May 10. No more details were provided on the agenda.
The council meeting will take place at Howell Township Municipal Building, Main Meeting Room,
4567 Route 9 North. The executive session begins at 6 p.m. and the regular session begins at 7 p.m.
