
The Howell schools might be on spring vacation this week but tomorrow night a group of students will once again get the chance to strut their stuff on MSG Varsity's "The Challenge."
The Rebels will take on the team from Elmwood Park Memorial High School at 6:30 Thursday night on the regional sports channel which is channel 14 for Cablevision customers.
Theresa Chillianis the network's general manager said the second round of the game should be an exciting one. "We got off to a great start with so many close games in the first round and expect the competition to heat up as we head towards the championship rounds," she said. "We love the support displayed by the schools and communities as they vie for the Tri-State Championship."

Back in November the Howell team was one of 192 to enter the competition when they took on Indian Hills High School. The team includes Aileen Rivell, Drew Kinghorn, Captain Steven Viera, Jessalyn Mergerle and Allyssa Aboff as well as Jack McCabe as alternates. They are advised by Annette Kinsley and Rose Elgayar.
Their was about as close to a blowout as the show has as they beat their opponents 370-185 to advance in the tournament.

The championship team for their wins a $2500 prize for their school and advances to the "Tri-State" Showdown. The winner of that part of the competition gets $10 thousand for their school and each student takes home $500.
