Rebels Surrender Late Lead, Falling to West Morris Central

Lacrosse team drops final game before state playoffs.

In their final regular season game before entering the state playoffs, the Howell Rebels (11-6) boys lacrosse team fell to West Morris Central, 8-7, playing on the road and in the rain, Wednesday afternoon.

Senior and captain Kevin Scott continued his recent success, leading Howell in scoring by a wide margin, scoring four of the Rebels' seven goals.

Andrew Rivero, Tyler Ott and long pole defensmen Max Fontaine all added goals as well, as Howell jumped out to strong leads in the first and second quarters.

Despite holding a 6-3 lead at the half, the Rebels scored just once in the entire second half, allowing West Morris Central to rally for the 8-7 win.

Sophomore stand-out Alec Dambach also continued his streak of dominance, dishing out four assists on the day.

Dambach and senior Rob Hart tied for the lead in ground balls, as both scooped up seven in that category.

Goalie Nick Schwarz made eight saves on the day and will need to play as strong as he has all season if the Rebels want to make a run in the state playoffs.

Last season, the Rebels won their first ever state playoff game, rallying to win on the road at Southern Reigonal.

Howell will be home in the state playoffs tomorrow when they take on Rancocas Valley at 3:30 p.m..
