Georgian Court University welcomes 2014 with brunch concert and Garden State Philharmonic
Lakewood, N.J., Dec. 20, 2013—Begin 2014 in style and in good company during the Wednesday, January 1, New Year’s Day performance of the Garden State Philharmonic at Georgian Court University’s historic Casino on the Lakewood campus. The event, held on GCU’s Lakewood campus, includes an 11:00 a.m. brunch and a 12:30 p.m. concert reminiscent of the Vienna Philharmonic, as seen by millions each year on PBS.
This joyous celebration will feature music as light as champagne bubbles, including the unforgettable melodies of Leroy Anderson, considered “America's preeminent composer of light concert music,” and the Strauss family, the iconic Austrian family of conductor-composers credited with creating Viennese waltz masterpieces.
Guests should be ready to tap their toes, clap their hands, and bring in the new year with the wonderful sounds of the Garden State Philharmonic, conducted by Maestro Anthony LaGruth. The brunch buffet will include strong coffees and teas, mock Bloody Marys, juices, cheese and veggie strata, pancakes, sausage, hash browns, baked goods, and fruit salad.
