1 Person Airlifted From Howell Route 9 Crash: Police
One person was airlifted with serious injuries, police said; a report said two people were hurt in the crash Wednesday.

HOWELL, NJ — (Updated, 5:45 p.m.) Two people were injured Wednesday in a serious crash that closed Route 9 in Howell for several hours, police and a report said.
The Lakewood Scoop reported that two people were injured in the crash, which happened late Wednesday morning.
Photos published by The Lakewood Scoop show a dump truck that appears to belong to A.J. Hesse with serious damage to the driver's side, where the front wheel is shoved back under the truck's cab, and a black, four-door car with its front end smashed.

The Lakewood Scoop article includes a sentence seeking prayers for one man who it said was undergoing emergency surgery.
In addition to Howell police, Howell Township EMS, Lakewood police, the Lakewood Hatzolah first aid squad, and the Southard Fire Department all responded to the scene. Southard firefighters extricated the driver of the car.

Route 9 reopened about 7 p.m., police said.
PREVIOUSLY:
Route 9 is closed in both directions in Howell Township near the Lakewood border as of 11:30 a.m. due to a serious motor vehicle accident, Howell police said Wednesday.
In a post on the department's Facebook page, motorists are warned the highway is closed from the Lakewood border north to Alexander Avenue "until further notice."
There were no details immediately available about the crash.
