School Bus Crash Investigation Continues In Howell

HOWELL, N.J.— Two people were seriously injured in a crash Wednesday, May 18, involving two school buses and two sedans at Route 9 and Friendship Road, police say. The accident is still under investigation by the Howell Township Traffic Safety Unit and no names of the injured were released. No students were on the buses at the time.

One school bus driver and a driver of one of the sedans were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for serious injuries, according to a press release by Det. Sgt. Peter Kuppler, the public information officer for the department .

The police responded to the crash at approximately 8:21 a.m. Wednesday and Route 9 southbound was closed for several hours. It reopened yesterday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation by the Howell Township Police Department, the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).

All drivers are cooperating with the investigation. No summonses have been issued at this time.
