Tax Assessment Inspections Coming To Howell Property Owners

All property visits will take place between 9 a.m. and dusk, Monday through Saturday, the Tax Assessor said.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township is under contract with Realty Data Systems (RDS) to inspect a designated portion of all properties located in the township each year. The properties that will be inspected in 2022 have been revealed.

The official start date of the inspections has not yet been announced by the Howell tax assessor.

This year, all property owners subject to an inspection received a notification in the mail with instructions for contacting RDS to complete a “remote virtual” interior inspection that does not require entry to the property.

The virtual interior inspection can be completed by dialing (732) 719-2265 from any phone between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no appointments necessary.

When you call, please make sure you are at your property, said the Howell tax assessor.

Inspectors will also come to your home to perform a full exterior front and back inspection, which will include photographs. During that visit, the inspector will knock on the door and introduce themselves, but will not enter the house.

If the owner is present when the inspector arrives, instructions will be given to perform an interior remote virtual inspection; otherwise, a door hanger with the necessary information will be left.

The property inspections allow the township to keep accurate property records that are used to complete annual reassessments, which are an important component in the equitable distribution of taxes.
