WATCH, MOVE OVER: DOT Video Reinforces Safety Message At Traffic Accident Scenes
The video was produced with the assistance of the Howell Township Police Department and Certified Auto Mall of Howell.

HOWELL, NJ — Most drivers are familiar with the "Move Over" law, which aims to protect police officers assisting motorists along the side of a road. But it's not just about police; the law aims to protect all first responders.
To remind first responders about the dangers, the state Department of Transportation put together a video going over ways first responders can make those situations safer for themselves while they are assisting motorists in need.
That video was put together in part with the assistance of the Howell Township Police Department and Certified Auto Mall of Howell.

While it's a reminder to first responders, it's also a reminder to motorists as well: if you come upon a police car stopped along the side of a road, you must slow down, and if possible to do so safely, move over a lane to create a buffer.
