Water Rescue Vehicle Helps Howell Police Aid Patient

A woman suffering a medical emergency was moved to dry ground using the vehicle, which went where other vehicles could not.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township police had to rely on their water rescue truck on Monday to assist a resident who was having a medical emergency, the department said on Facebook.

Howell police were called to the Winding Brook development on Route 547 for a medical emergency involving a bariatric patient, the department said on Facebook.

Flooding prevented a squad car and an ambulance from getting to the home, but the first patrol officer and EMS personnel carried equipment through the water to the home.

The police department's water rescue truck then drove in and the patient was loaded onto it and brought to dry ground,"where she was transferred to our bariatric-equipped police rig," the post said.

"The Howell Police are committed to our community and are proud to have the personnel and resources in place to render this service," the post said.

Howell Township received 5.56 inches of rain on Monday morning, according to Dave Robinson, the New Jersey state climatologist a Rutgers University.
